We love to hear from our old students about their time in the school and other things that they did out of school while they weren't studying.
Here is a great review of SGI English school from Tatiana, a Russian student from Moscow.
We have quite a few Russian students and they all seem to love London (just like everyone else from any other country), but it seems that Tatiana REALLY enjoyed her time at SGI.
Review of SGI London English School by Tatiana from Moscow
I would like to share our impressions of our stay and study in London.
The school SGI, where we learnt, is in the heart of London. This is just super!
After school, you can walk for 15-20 minutes to many famous and popular tourist attractions of historical interest: Trafalgar Square , Westminster Palace, The National Gallery, The British Museum, The London Eye, etc. Just walk and enjoy!
In addition, to SGI, we had a very good apartment near the school. We walked to the school every day on foot.
The teachers at the school are outstanding. Very open-minded, and openly teach you as much language knowledge as possible. They were always ready to help and not just with teaching, but ready to answer any questions about what to do during free time in London.
There were around 8-10 people in the group at the school. The students were from different countries: Italy, Portugal, Morocco, China, UAE, France and others - in our group there were no Russians! This is especially positive news, since there was no temptation to utter a word in Russian. That would make no sense.
The groups were well matched according to their level of English skill. None of us felt that we knew less than the other students in the group. I cannot say that after just two weeks there has been a huge jump in my English, but the speaking practice was just perfect! There was also the chance to study grammar and my English vocabulary expanded, of course. But most of all, I liked the conversational practice.
I must admit that for the first 2-3 days it was hard to understand the English language being spoken. For the first 2 days it seemed to me that the French student in the group was speaking French, not English. But by the beginning of the second week I began to understand it well.
The class schedule was: a 90-minute lesson, then 30 minutes break and then a further 90-minutes lesson. If you want, you can even take extra lessons (both group and individual). We decided not to take them. We have children, one of whom is 6 years old. So we had a sufficient number of classes.
I must say that our overall experience of the teaching at the school was just excellent!
And then there is London itself.... You can talk about it forever! And still that would not be enough, taking at least 10 pages to describe this beautiful city. Let me just say that it is definitely worth it to go and wander through the city for more than just one day, enjoying its architecture, its parks, its museums ... This city is worth that and so much more!
And the original Russian for all you Russian speakers out there
